Monsters in the Dark

Monsters In The Dark is a 3D/2D animated short film about a young boy haunted by his abused past fears the love of his new family and runs away into a dark forest where he meets a monster that will change his life forever. A thesis by MFA Apollonia Thomaier-Vick.

I began teaching music and sound design as a full-time instructor for high school students in 2017.

WANIC is the Washington Network of Innovative Careers. It’s a regional skills center in Northeast King County. WANIC provides advanced-level career and technical education programs based on rigorous academic and industry standards preparing students for post-secondary education and successful entry into high-skill, high-demand careers and employment.

I developed a full-year music and sound design curriculum. The course is meant to help students establish a solid foundation of music, technical audio, and 21st-century skills. The class does not require any prerequisite, and we expect to have students with varying skills and entry points into music.

Sharing music and helping students find their own way with music has been a privilege that’s hard to put into words. The learning is a two-way street.

    Doodle Dash! is a set of Pictionary based mini-games for the Nintendo Wii-U. One player is prompted to draw with the gamepad while the other players try and guess the picture. Each gameplay mode has its own twist on the pictionary format.

    Among the Clouds is an asymmetric espionage game where one players controls a security camera while the other player controls a robot who must sneak around and blend in with NPC robots to reach their objective.

Relic is a third-person action adventure game. Players use a grappling-beam and jetpack to traverse an ancient alien spacecraft with their talkative robot sidekick.

    Digipen Freshman Game of the Year 2013

    Mitosis is a 1v1 death-match game. At the start of each match, you split from your opponent playing as divisions of a cell undergoing mitosis. Immediately after the split you must fight to the death by slashing with your nucleus, shooting your cell membrane as a slingshot, and setting traps.

    Shattered Nocturne was one of my earliest projects at DigiPen. The vision was to create a poetic experience that would capture the feeling of depression and the escape from it. While the project was never fully complete the mood and atmosphere can still be felt within the soundscape and score.
